End of August update

We are enjoying the last few weeks of summer. Lydia is figuring out school, she seems to like her classes okay but is still trying to meet people. She is doing cross country and has made some friends, some of them went to the water park together last weekend, hopefully her back will allow her to continue running.

We had fun at the rodeo Saturday night, it was one of the best ones we have been to.

In Provo both Kyle and Nicole started school. Nicole is doing the dental hygiene program at uvu, she has to go to Lehi every day for school, so there were a lot of new things to figure out, but she is working hard and figuring it out.

Katie has been enjoying her last couple of weeks of summer before school starts up again.

Hailey finished up her summer class. She and Carl moved apartments, they were able to get into married student housing, they like their new place. They celebrated carls birthday last week, and now they are in Mexico for a week before school starts.

First days of school

Lydia started school, it is different than we are used to, they do AB days so she kind of had 2 first days, so we took pictures of both. She likes her classes so far, she is trying to make friends, luckily she has some girls to eat lunch with that she met at girls camp. She is also trying cross country, she is having fun with the team but her back isn’t great, she hasn’t been able to do most of the workouts.

Summer vacation week 8

This was our last week of summer vacation, school starts up next week. Lydia and I made peach pies this week, they turned out really good. Wednesday Lydia had to get her wisdom teeth pulled out and her front tooth, she will be getting an implant put in. She was pretty miserable for a couple of days, her mouth is starting to feel better now. Friday we went to her school, she got her computer and her picture taken for her id, we walked around and found her classes. The school is much bigger than what she is used to, but I think she will do great. Thursday night we needed to get out of the house so we drove up to Idaho City and walked around the historical sites, it was a pretty drive. Saturday we went to a flower farm where you can cut your own flowers and make a bouquet, it was a lot of fun, they also had really good ice cream. Sunday I got a calling in our ward, I will be working with the young women. We also went for a walk around a lake, it was good to get outside, but it was pretty hot so we didn’t walk very far.

On the way home from her surgery, she was pretty funny talking, I couldn’t understand most of what she said

Summer vacation week 7

The first part of the week was kind of hard, lots of smoke and being stuck inside all day. Thursday night we drove to Wyoming, the kids and Marc did a race there a couple of years ago and have wanted to go back and try it again, since we live closer now, this seemed like a good year to do it. Friday Marc and Lydia and I started the day with a walk along the river, it was beautiful, we saw a bald eagle, and really big moose. We also drove out and saw Mormon row, it was interesting and we had fun taking pictures, we also had to stop and try a new ice cream, it was very good. We signed everyone up for the race in the morning and then went back to the house and had dinner and hung out there the rest of the night. The kids from Provo got there very late that night and we got up early the next morning and went to the race. The race is 6 miles straight up a mountain, I think it is 4500 feet of elevation gain, Marc, Kyle, Katie, Nicole, and Lydia ran it. Tori, and Kyle’s friend Colby and I waited at the bottom for them to finish. They did great, Katie finished first from our group and got third place for women 20-29, she finished in 1 1/2 hours, everyone else finished right around 2 hours. I think they all enjoyed it. Kyle’s friends hadn’t seen the Tetons before so we drove around so they could see the views, and we walked around Jackson a bit and then had dinner together. Sunday morning we all left and drove home. It was a quick fun weekend, we loved seeing everyone we missed Hailey and Carl.

The kids stopped in afton on their way home
