Summer Vacation week 2

We hardly saw Kyle or Hailey this week.  Kyle was working a lot, he had a couple of people that he was doing yard work for.  Hailey had volleyball camp all day everyday, and when she got home she was exhausted.  So Katie, Nicole, Lydia and I hung out all day everyday.  They are really into Barbies right now so there was a lot of barbie playing going on, the weather was nice, not too hot so they played outside a lot, soccer, jump rope, and trampoline.  The girls also babysat a couple of times, there is a little boy that we are helping to watch this summer, they were great with him.  Katie, Nicole and Kyle had fun playing ultimate Frisbee with a group of kids from church, they had a lot of fun.  The girls had friends over one day to play with water balloons and the sprinkler on the trampoline. They also got to spend an afternoon at a friends house painting ceramics. We also watched movies, read books, played games and finished a puzzle.

Summer Vacation week 1

The first week of summer is over, I have a feeling it is going to fly by.  It was a good week, the first half of the week everyone was home, and I think everyone was pretty happy to just play and relax, and enjoy the fact that there was no school. Kyle worked a lot, he is doing yard work for several people, he also spent a lot of time at the gym and sleeping.  Hailey had volleyball workouts everyday but other than that she was home hanging out with her sisters.  Katie and Nicole were home they read books,  played Barbies with Lydia, and played a lot of soccer.  Lydia had a fun activity days on Monday they went to the local news station and got a tour, they thought that was lots of fun.  Thursday the 4 oldest kids took off for a three day church youth activity, they all had a great time, it was called RISE, they camped, and were put into groups of about 13 kids, they did all kinds of fun activities together and attended classes. Some of the kids favorites were the climbing wall, an activity where you had to get all of your group over a 12 foot wall, and a tactical training activity.  we loved hearing all of their fun stories.  Lydia had fun hanging out with mom and dad, we went out to dinner, played games, made cookies, and visited friends.

13

We have two more teenagers at our house. Nicole and Katie turned 13 this past week.  We celebrated their birthday a couple of days early because they were going to be at a church youth activity on their birthday, but it sounds like they sang to them at their activity and gave them little gift boxes and one of their leaders made them Cinnamon rolls.  We celebrated at home by making them their favorite meals, ego waffles for breakfast, and hamburgers, chips and watermelon for dinner, and of course cake and ice cream.  They opened gifts before breakfast, bracelet making stuff and new soccer ball and 4 square ball, and nice little notes and cards from their siblings.  After dinner we went and played at the park, the girls all brought their scooters and rode around for awhile and then played on the toys, Marc and kyle and Hailey played Frisbee, it was lots of fun.

fathers day

We had fun celebrating Marc on Fathers Day, he is a pretty amazing Dad.  The kids all wrote him nice notes about why the love him,and Katie made him this really cool name sign at school.  We cooked his favorite meals and had a nice day together.  Kyle got home from Boise that evening and we had fun hearing all of his stories.

first weekend of summer

We started our summer off with a fun weekend.  Kyle wasn't here, but Marc and I and the girls went camping as soon as the kids got home from school on Friday.  The campground was nice, there was a lot to do.  We played in the river, played tennis, there was a playground right by our campsite, so the girls spent a lot of time playing there, we also roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, played a lot of frisbee and soccer and enjoyed camping and being outside.

They said the water was very cold

Saturday we got up and played some tennis, and then drove to lake chelan, where we met up with Rachel and Tylers family, we got to be there for Spencers birthday celebration.  We played miniature golf and tennis, ate lunch and birthday cake and swam in the lake.  We loved being able to spend the day with family.  It was a fun way to start the summer.

Football Camp

Kyle spent the last few days at Boise State playing football, he loved it,and learned a lot.  He said they played football all day long, and that he was just exhausted all the time, but had a ton of fun.
He played in every play, he was receiver and linebacker.
He said he had to take his shirt off because he was so sweaty and was getting a rash

end of another school year

The last day of school was Friday, we were all ready for it to be over.  It was a good year, but we were ready for summer vacation.  Kyle finished up his Junior year, he had some hard classes, he was very happy to be done.  He actually finished everything up Wednesday and took off for football camp at Boise State. Hailey finished up her freshman year, she did very well this year, but thought most of her classes were boring, she is excited to relax and enjoy summer.  Katie and Nicole finished 7th grade, they did great this year, both of them said their favorite class was math, and sometimes pre engineering.  Lydia finished 3rd grade, she had a great year, she loved her teacher and learned a lot.
Lydia earned her "stronger than a 5th grader" award again
Nicole earned her certification for microsoft word
I got to help with Lydias field day, it was fun to watch her having fun with her friends

Lydia also got an award for being one of the top 10 kids for mileage club

Gap 2 Gap race

Katie, Nicole and Lydia participated in gap 2 gap this weekend.  Katie and Nicole were a team again so they took turns on each event, Nicole ran, Katie biked, Nicole did the steeple chase, Katie Kayaked, and Nicole did the obstacle course, they did great, they won first place for their age group.  Lydia did the whole thing on her own, she did so good, she didn't stop at all, she finished strong, unfortunately she did get in a little bike accident that slowed her down, she didn't place at all but she was amazing to do it all on her own. Of course we went out for ice cream afterwords, it was a fun morning cheering the girls on.
