Fun weekend

 We had a fun weekend. The girls just had a half day of school Friday so when they got home we took of for Vancouver, we spent a few hours hanging out with the Carluccio’s, which is always lots of fun.

Then we drove over to Portland and spent the weekend with Marc’s dad and Diana.  Saturday we spent the day at the beach, we hunted for agates, played in the water, played with a remote control car, tried to fly a kite, and spent a relaxing day at the beach. Saturday night we got ice cream at our favorite place, this time the flavors were picnic flavored ice cream, most of them sounded pretty weird, but the girls tried some of them and actually really liked the chicken one. 

Sunday morning we went to church with Marc’s parents and then decided to drive over and surprise the Carluccio’s at their church and listen to Naomi give her talk, it was a fun surprise. We had a great weekend, so fun to see and visit with family.

Back to school

 The girls started school yesterday. This week is just half days, it’s not a bad way to get back into the school routine. The twins left early to go to the senior sunrise, they said it wasn’t that fun but they are seniors and trying to be involved, they have pretty hard classes this year, lots of AP and CHS classes, but they are also really excited about school, they really enjoy it so it should be a good year

Lydia is in 8th grade, she will ride the bus most mornings but then stay after school for sports. She is worried that she doesn’t have good friends in some of her classes, so far her favorite class is Spanish, she has lots of friends in there and it is a fun class. I hope it is a good year for her

Summer vacation week 10

 Summer is over, the kids start school on Wednesday. It was a good last week of summer

Some highlights 

-the weather was really hot for the first part of the week and now we have a lot of smoke, so we have spent a lot of  time indoors

- a sisters trip to get frozen yougurt

- a quick visit from my parents, they were here getting fruit, we had fun visiting with them

- a fun bike ride Saturday morning, we rode about 26 miles

It’s crazy that summer is over. It always goes by so fast. It has been a lot of fun, we had a lot of fun adventures, and a lot of good family time. 

summer vacation week 9

 Another great week of summer

Here are some highlights 

-the twins went rafting on Tuesday with other youth from the stake, they had a really good time and enjoyed trying something new 

-bike rides to the school to play in the mornings

-more babysitting

-on Saturday we were able to tour the new Moses Lake temple, it is beautiful and we loved the spirit that we felt there

-after the temple we went and spent the afternoon at the water park there, it was a fun hot afternoon, we all got sunburned.

-after the water park the girls were able to go back to the temple and serve by putting the foot coverings on people before they went through the tour, they did that for 4 hours,they said it was a great experience and they were glad they were able to do it

Family vacation day 9

 We drove home today, we said goodbye to Kyle this morning, it was really fun having him with us for the week. The drive was long, we only stopped at the Pocatello temple, and at a few rest stops, it was a long drive, but good to be back home. We really had a good week,  a lot of fun family time. We really liked the star valley area where we stayed, it is beautiful, we would love to go back again.

Family vacation day 8

 Marc had been looking for activities to do in this area and saw that there was a big race going on in Jackson hole, the twins got all excited about that so Katie, Nicole, Marc and Kyle decided to enter this race. You run 6 miles up a mountain and gain just over 4000 feet of elevation. They did it, and all did really well, but it was very hard, Katie said it was the hardest thing she had ever done. Nicole ended up winning the 19 and younger category and Katie got 2nd, I think they finished with a time of 1:46 and 1:49, Marc and Kyle weren’t far behind them.

Nicole won 50 dollars and a water bottle, and Katie won a water bottle.

I think everyone was glad they did it, but it was hard, the twins are saying they want to come back next year and try to beat their time

After the race we went and played in the water and played spike ball, but another storm rolled in, so we didn’t stay too long

We ate ice cream after dinner and then got in some more pickle ball before bed.

Family vacation day 7

 Unfortunately we woke up to another really rainy morning. We drove into Jackson and walked around for awhile, there are lots of stores and shopping, it was crowded and a little crazy, but it was an okay way to spend a couple of rainy hours. Tonight we had tickets to the rodeo, we had a really good time, we loved watching all the different rodeo events, the little kids were especially cute riding the bulls, and we also got in some good people watching, it was a fun night.

Family vacation day 6

 We woke up this morning to the weather forecast predicting rain and flooding in the Tetons and Yellowstone, so we decided to just hang out around the house for the day. Everyone started the morning off with a run. Then we decided to try some fishing, we tried fishing on the salt river, we didn’t catch anything, but everyone had fun trying.

We came back to the house and had lunch then the plan was to play some pickle ball but the courts were locked, so we went into afton to check out the museum that had been closed on Tuesday, unfortunately it was still closed but there was an airplane museum that was open. It was quite the experience, the man that was giving tours was very old and it was very hard to understand what he was saying, and he really liked to talk and tell stories, some of the stories he told multiple times, it was definitely an interesting experience.

We picked up more groceries and went home and made dinner, and then tried pickle ball again. We played for quite awhile, then came home and roasted marshmallows, but it started raining again so that didn’t last very long.
