school picture, scouts and football

Kyle hates to wear anything other than shorts and T-shirts, sometimes we have a hard time getting him to dress up for church, so when he came upstairs on picture day wearing a white shirt we were a little surprised.  I dont usually buy school pictures, we usually just do our own, but I had to buy one this year.

 

 

 

Friday night Kyle was awarded his Arrow of Light award for scouts, he worked really hard on it all summer and got it all done, we were really proud of him.  They had a little ceremony for him, it was nice and now he gets to start working on the Boy Scout achievements.

 

Saturday Kyles football team had a big game, they were playing the championship team from last year.  His team won 20-7, they played so well.  Kyle had a really great block towards the end of the game that really helped his team.  It was a really fun game to watch.

Kyles Birthday

Today was Kyles birthday, he turned 11. It turned out that he didnt have school, and Marc didnt have to work, so we had the whole day to spend together.  He wanted to start the day off with doughnuts, he wasnt having cake so we put candles in the doughnuts instead. 

 

He opened his presents at breakfast, he got some cute cards from his sisters and we got him the basketball and socks that he has been wanting, he was a happy boy.

We decided to go on a hike, we found one that wasnt to far away and wasnt to long, it was a hike to a waterfall, so we gave it a try.  It was the perfect length for the kids, there were a couple of parts where the trail wasnt very good, they thought they were real mountain hikers, and they loved that.  It was a beautiful day, and we had a really good time.

We got his favorite pizza and root beer for dinner and then had ice cream before bed.  Our neighbors came over to wish him a happy birthday and give him a gift. The kids have been talking about how they wanted to try the yucky flavors of Jelly Bellys and our neighbors were in california this last week so they stopped at the Jelly Belly factory and got the kids some, they thought they were great,  They all agreed that the worst one was canned dog food.  Our neighbors also invited Kyle and Marc over to watch the football game, so he got to end his night doing that.  He said that he had a great day.  He his a great kid, we love him lots and are really proud of him.

Yesterday Marcs Dad got married.  We spent the afternoon at the temple, it was great to see everyone.  Marcs Dad and Diane seem very happy, we were so glad that we could be there to celebrate with them.

The other day Lydia found this little spider in the house, she carried it around for a couple of hours.  She took it for rides in the laundry basket, read it stories and named it Rose. 

Kyles first football game

Football games have begun, and kyle is sure happy about that.  His first game was today. He is playing on a different team this year, last year he played with the 8 and 9 year olds, now he is with the 10 and 11 year olds.  His coaches this year are great, Kyle really likes them and they really think that he is great.  They won their first game 46 to 12.  Kyle played starting fullback and was a linebacker some of the time.  He got the ball a few times and almost got it into the end zone once, and the last play of the game he jumped up and intercepted the ball, it was a great way to end the game. We will be spending the next few Saturdays cheering him on at the football field.
