Back to school

School started on Wednesday, they just had half days this week, so it still doesn’t feel like school has started all the way, but it has been a good transition from summer to school.

The twins drive themselves to school, they are juniors this year, they have hard schedules, but like their teachers and had friends in class, so they seem excited about the new year. They also started cross country practice this week, both of them are dealing with some injuries and pain, so we aren’t sure what the season will bring, but they were pretty happy to back running with their team.

Lydia is a 7th grader this year, she will ride the bus most mornings and then will stay after for sports most afternoons. She liked her classes so far and is happy to have friends in most of them.

Summer vacation week 10

Summer is over. Our last week of summer was a good one. We had lots of doctors and dentists appointments, the girls got their schedules, they continued to babysit every day, they got their backpacks and binders ready for the first day, Hailey said good bye to lots of friends as they took off for college, she went on a sunrise hike with 2 friends, Lydia went boating with friends, we even had a quick visit from my parents Sunday evening.

We made a quick trip to the temple Saturday morning

It was a good summer, lots of fun adventures and family time.

Summer vacation week 9

Most of the week was just the usual summer stuff, lots of babysitting, swimming, tennis with friends, movies, puzzles, running, we stayed busy and had a good week.

Friday afternoon we drove over to Portland, on the way we stopped and did a little hike with Leah and joe and their kids, it was fun to see them.

Hailey and I hiked together so she got to be in the pictures

We finished the drive to Beaverton and went out to ice cream with Marc’s parents, they have a favorite ice cream place, every month they have special new flavors, this month was vegetable month, they were interesting, we tried ones with carrot cake, spinach, and even one with Mexican corn, it was fun to try.

Saturday we drove over to Lincoln city and started with a hike to a waterfall, there was also a cool suspension bridge.

Then we went to a lake and had a picnic, we were going to rent kayaks and play at the lake but the rental place had closed so we went to the beach instead. The weather was great, we built sand castles, flew kites, and played spike ball. It was a fun relaxing afternoon.

We stayed and went to church there and then drove home, it was really fun to see Marc’s dad and Diana, we always enjoy our time there.

We got home and spent the evening playing kickball and visiting with our good friends the dittos, three of their kids are heading off to college this week, so it was fun to get in a visit before they take off

We talked to Kyle on our drive home, his boss took Thursday and Friday off so Kyle drove over to star valley Wyoming and stayed with friends from his mission, he helped with the cattle and went to the rodeo, it sounds like he had a great weekend.

Summer vacation week 8

This week the weather was cooler which was nice, we were able to be outside a lot more. The girls got to swim a couple of times, one day it started raining while they were in the pool.

The big news this week was Katie and Nicole passed their drivers license tests, and now can drive on their own.

We finished a couple more puzzles this week

Saturday we went up in the mountains and did a couple of hikes, the first one was naches peak loop, it has great views of mount Rainer, and the wildflowers were really pretty.

Then we did a quick hike to see a waterfall. Marc and Hailey were crazy and got in the water.

It was a fun week, only 2 full weeks left and we are back in school

Kyle’s boss went on vacation this week so Kyle went to Oakley and worked for some of his friends there, he got to do some welding which he enjoyed, they are getting some areas ready for more cattle. He always has a great time there working and seeing everyone.
