basketball and a visit with the Carluccios

my kids really like watching BYU basketball, so we decided it would be fun to go to a game.  They play in Portland during their season so we got tickets, and made a quick trip to Portland.  Thursday we took all the kids out of school early and drove to Leah and Joes house, they had invited Lydia to stay with them while we took the older kids to the game.  Lydia has been so excited, we were at Costco that morning and they had new cute jammies so we decided the girls needed matching jammies for their slumber party.  They looked so cute and it sounds like they had a great time together.

We had a great time at the game.  The kids thought it was so cool to see the players in real life, and we all agreed that it is way better than watching it on TV.  It was a close game, BYU won in the end, we had fun cheering for them.  I think everyone wants to make this a yearly event.

We got back to Leahs house pretty late, but they had pizza ready for a little late night party.  We had fun laughing and talking until way to late.  We stayed and played for a couple of hours the next morning, but then had to head back home.  It was a really fun, quick trip.

Valentines Day

we had a really nice day Saturday- Valentines Day.   We started the day off with pink pancakes.   We watched basketball games all morning, neither of the girls teams won, but they all played really well.  We came home to a beautiful sunny warm day, so we decided to head to the park, we played there for quite a while and then came home and set up the pickle ball net and played that the rest of the afternoon.  Our valentine tradition is to make our dining room into a restaurant with a different theme each year. This year we went really simple and did a pizza parlor.  We each made our own pizzas, they were very yummy, I think we all had a great time.

We covered the table with paper and had fun drawing pictures while we waited for the pizzas to cook.
We had all kinds of fun toppings, some people even tried anchovies.

The kids made all kinds of cute valentines for everyone.  The twins had fun exchanging valentines with all the kids in their class on Thursday.  Hailey doesn't get to do that at her school, but she made all of her close friends cute little cards, and passed them out before school. At Kyles school they do a fund raiser where the kids can buy a can of orange crush and have it delivered to a friend with a note that says "I have a crush on you"  Kyle came home from school with two cans of crush that someone had sent to him.

Father Daughter Ball

Last night was the annual father daughter ball that the high school puts on.  This year the theme was "A night FROZEN in time."  Hailey decided that she didn't want to go, she thinks she is getting to old or something.  We decided that Lydia was old enough this year and with the Frozen theme she was super excited to be able to go.  I had fun helping the three girls get all dressed up and get their hair done.  They looked beautiful and from what it sounds like they had a wonderful time.  It sounds like Lydia was quite the dancer, and they all had fun playing the games and eating the snacks.  It is a really fun night that they look forward to every year.

laundry and shaving

Yesterday after finishing two loads of laundry my dryer quit working, it wouldn't get hot inside.  So today after basketball games Marc went to work on it, after a couple of trips to the parts store, he got it up and running.  I put my wet clothes in from yesterday, and started another load in the washer, the washer filled up with water and then started making an awful noise, so I got to go outside and tell Marc that now the washer needed fixing, we made another trip to the parts store we now have a working washer and dryer. The parts store owners were pretty surprised to see him again, but boy am I glad that he is so handy and was able to fix them both.

As for shaving, I made Marc teach Kyle how to shave his little mustache off today, he was pretty cute shaving for the first time.

50 miles

Nicole finished running her 50 miles at school during the month of January, so today at the assembly she received her shirt.  Unfortunately she stayed home sick today, but Katie was able to bring her shirt home for her, she was pretty excited.

37

I turned 37 yesterday.  The kids started the day with all kinds of cute gifts.  I got lots of nice pictures and cards, it was lots of fun.  Marc had the day off so we got to hang out all day, we did some shopping and went out to lunch.  Then I got my hair cut.   We ended the day with cake and ice cream, and boy did it taste good, since none of us are eating treats around here.

The end of january

January is over, it went by really fast.  The girls are all still doing basketball, we are enjoying watching their games. One Saturday after basketball games we got started on remodeling our 1/2 bath.  These boys took everything out and primed the walls, since then we have painted the walls but that is about all we have got done, hopefully soon we will have time to get it finished.

We finished a puzzle.
We finished up our January family healthy living challenge, it was a lot of fun.  We thought it was pretty fun when we would walk by my bedroom and see Lydia walking on the treadmill, and reading Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

I was the big winner with Kyle and Hailey tying for 2nd place, the three of us are going to the movies soon to celebrate our win.  We had so much fun that we started a new one for February, the only new thing we added was service in our home, we can each get a point each day for doing something nice for a family member.
