Sickness continued

This past Monday Katie was finally all the way better, she went to school, I enjoyed running errands and having all my kids healthy.  In the middle of the night Monday night Nicole came into our room and said Mom I just threw up, and it began again.  She was exactly like Katie, throwing up every 20 minutes or so all through the night and the next day.  Tuesday morning Hailey got out of bed and threw up, so they both stayed home, but Hailey didn't throw up again. Because I really didn't want Nicole to end up in the hospital we were really good about getting her to drink, she also didn't want to go to the hospital so she was better about drinking than Katie had been.  I kept Hailey home Wednesday as well, because I kept thinking it was going to get worse, but it didn't.  Nicole just kept at it all day Tuesday and Wednesday, but she didn't seem as dehydrated as Katie, so we didn't take her to the hospital, Thursday Hailey went to school.  Lydia didn't seem to feel good Thursday morning and I got worried, she threw up twice and then seemed fine, we were so glad.  Nicole still threw up some on Thursday but seemed to be keeping more down.  Kyle had a stomach ache on Friday so he stayed home, he slept quite a bit but never threw up.  Nicole only threw up once on Friday, but just seemed so weak and tired, we were still really worried about her.  Saturday was kind of the same, she didn't eat much and just looked so tired and weak, Sunday was a little better, and then finally today she seemed almost back to normal, she still barely eats, but is up playing with everyone.  What a crazy sickness, I sure hope it is all gone.  It was weird how it hit the twins so hard, I have never seen anything like it.  It sure makes you appreciate how healthy they normally are.

soccer and a Katie update

Katie and Nicoles soccer season ended this weekend, here is their cute team picture.  They had a lot of fun and are both getting really good at soccer.  Unfortunately Katie didn't get to play in her last game, their team won and we had fun watching Nicole.  They both say they want to play again next year.

Katie came home from the hospital on Wednesday, she did good Wednesday and Thursday morning, but then Thursday afternoon she started throwing up again.  My Mom decided to come over and help out, she got here Thursday night.  Friday morning Katie threw up again as soon as she ate a little bit of breakfast.  We had a doctors appointment that morning, my Mom was able to stay home with Lydia which was really nice to not have to drag her along with us.  Unfortunately the appointment wasn't with the doctor but with the nurse practitioner, I didn't feel like she was very helpful, she just kept saying that Katie looked weak and that she needed to build her strength up, I could have told her that.  She did give us a prescription for an anti-nausea pill, we decided to give her that and see if we could get her to eat and drink and keep it down and that might help her feel better.  She threw up as soon as we got home, but hasn't since then. She seems to have a lot more energy and is eating a little bit at every meal.  I didn't give her a pill today and so far so good.  We stayed home from church toady, but I told her if she feels good all day, she can probably go to school tomorrow.  It has been quite a week, I hate it when my kids are sick, I just feel so bad for them and I don't always know what to do to help them.  I am glad my Mom came, it made everything easier, plus we all enjoyed the visit.

Katies hospital visit

Sunday afternoon Katie started complaining that she didn't feel good, and then that evening she started throwing up.  I slept on the couch so that I could hear her and help her and she threw up about every 20-30 min. most of the night.  Monday she threw up a little bit in the morning and then seemed to be doing a bit better, so we thought she was getting over it.  She went all night Monday not throwing up, but then as soon as she was up on Tuesday morning it started again and was pretty constant all day Tuesday.  I decided to call the nurse at the doctors office that I go to and she said that if she wasn't going to the bathroom very much, which she wasn't, that she would take her in to the ER.  So when Marc got home from work I took her in, they got an IV going and started her on fluids, her glucose was very low so they tried to get that up by having her drink juice and eat Popsicles, but she was so tired that she was just falling asleep as soon as the doctor would leave.  They checked her urine and it came back showing that she might have a slight infection, and the fluids were not really helping her feel much better, so they decided to admit her to the hospital so they could watch her all night. She slept straight through the night she didn't even wake up when they would come and check her temperature.  She woke up and seemed to be feeling a little better They said if we could get her drinking more they would take her IV out and send her home and we could just watch her at home. So we got her drinking as much as we could and she is home now.  She still hasn't really ate anything and she still has no energy, but she hasn't thrown up or anything, hopefully she will start feeling better soon, we take in to her regular doctor tomorrow to make sure she is doing ok.

Mothers Day and an update

We had a nice Mothers Day, the kids made me all kinds of nice cards and notes.  We went to church and spent the day together.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a Mom, I am also so grateful for my Mom and the wonderful example that she is to me, and for the wonderful Grandma that she is for my kids.

We also wanted to remember Marc's mom and what a wonderful mother she was, so we cut some roses and went to the cemetery to visit her grave site, on the way there we shared our favorite memories of her.
The kids are loving all the rose bushes we have

We stopped at the pond at the cemetery and fed the ducks and swans, the kids loved that. They would hold the bread out high and the swans would grab it out of their hands.  They loved watching the mom duck with all of her little babies following her.

Here are some updates on the kids.

Kyle is busy with school, but is doing really well.  He stays after school two days a week and plays basketball.  He is also doing a lot with scouts. There is a boy that lives next door that is just a little younger than Kyle, he is enjoying having a boy to play with, they are outside every night playing some sort of game.  Marc and Kyle went on the Father sons campout Friday night , they had a great time.  Kyle has started mowing our lawn, he does a great job except for the fact that it makes his allergies really bad.

Hailey is doing great.  She had her big state testing at school last week, she was pretty nervous but I am sure that she did great.  She is still reading a ton of books, every day it seems like she is starting a new book.  She too is loving being able to play outside, and is out there whenever she can.

Katie and Nicole have one week left of soccer, they have done great.  I don't think there has been a game where they both haven't scored at least one goal.  They are doing great in school, and are having lots of fun.

Lydia is happy that it is summer time.  during the winter she wanted me to get her some bubbles to blow, I told her we would have to get some in the summer, so this past week when it was so hot she told me that is was summer and she was ready for those bubbles so we went and got her some.

Marc and I have been doing a lot of yard work, the yard is looking a lot better.  We also got the garden in this last week, I will be excited to see how it does.

pets

Marc and I are not really animal people so we will probably never have any pets.  My kids like animals and are always finding all kinds of creatures to call pets.  Here are a couple of the latest.
Hailey found this frog, she named him toady, she carried him around for about three days. She had a spot outside where she kept him and he was always still there when she got home from school.  One day I found him in her room so I told her to get rid of him, I only meant to get him out of the house but she thought I meant get rid of him for good so she let him go.

Lydia found this worm, Caterpillar thing the other day she carried him around all morning, she named him Rose and made him a bed out of a leaf.  She lost him after awhile and we couldn't find him.
