fall fun and a talk

Our old house didn't have any trees that lost their leaves in the fall, so the kids would always go over to the neighbors to play when there leaves fell.  They were excited when we told them that at this house we would have our own leaves to play in.  The trees have been beautiful, and they are finally losing their leaves.  Saturday we had fun raking them up and playing in them.

On Sunday Kyle got to give his first talk in Sacrament meeting.  He did a really nice job, he wrote it himself, and did a really nice job giving it, we were very proud of him.

A visit from Grandma

My Mom came for a visit this week.  I had told her that I was doing some projects and would love to have her help, and she had a free week, so she came over.  She got here Wednesday and stayed until Saturday morning.  We got a lot of projects done, more details on those later.  It was fun working with her.  The kids of course love having Grandma here.  We kept her pretty busy, she helped me all day while the kids were gone, helped kids with homework when the got home, played lots of games of skip bo before bed, and stayed up late talking and watching TV with Marc and I.  I didn't take any pictures except for Friday night, Marc got out the game pad thing and we all danced and ran races on it together, Grandma showed us her dance moves and taught us the trick for going really fast on the running game.

It was lots of fun, we are so glad she came, it was a great visit.

1/2 days, conferences and a finished project

Last week the kids had 1/2 days at school, because it was parent teacher conference week.  The kids like to wait and eat lunch until they get home, it was fun having lunch with them all week, I made fun lunches and they really though that was great, better than peanut butter sandwiches.

I also got to have a conference with Katie and Nicoles teacher and with Haileys teacher.  I met with Katie and Nicoles teacher first, she says the girls are doing great, and that she just loves them. Haileys teacher loves having Hailey as well and says she is doing really well, it was fun meeting with them and hearing about all the things they are doing, I am so grateful for such a good school and for great teachers.  I didn't get to meet with Kyles teachers but several of them sent notes home saying how much they enjoy him and that he is doing well in school.

Marc got a little project finished this last week. We are trying to get all the closets organized so that we can get everything out of the garage.  This closet is in the entryway, we painted it and built shelves and a new piece of carpet, and hooks, that aren't in the picture.  we put sleeping bags and tents up on top and then emergency things on the shelves, and then hung our 72 hour backpacks from the hooks, it looks really good.

pictures

The other night the kids were so peaceful and quiet, I came in to see what they were doing and this is what I saw.  The girls are all learning to crochet so they were hard at work, I didn't get a picture of Lydia but she was helping Katie unwind her yarn.

Kyle was busy doing homework.

Hailey brought home this picture that she made at school, they had to make a self portrait by tearing paper.  It turned out really cute.

Halloween 2013

We had a nice Halloween.  We started the day off with yummy pumpkin pancakes. The kids got all dressed up for school, Katie and Nicole were soccer players for school, they had mileage club so they wanted to wear something that they could run in.  It sounds like they did all kinds of fun things at school. We had dinner and then they got ready to trick or treat.  Our ward was having their party on Halloween, we weren't sure what we were going to do, but all the neighborhood kids were trick or treating together so we ended up joining them.  They also had a fire going on in our street so it was fun sitting around the fire talking to and getting to know the neighbors better.

The kids all sat around comparing candy

The day after Halloween this is what Lydia did all day, she thought all that candy was pretty great.
