First day of school

Yesterday was Kyles first day of school. I cant believe that he is in first grade, time goes by so fast. He goes all day now he catches the bus at about 8:15 and then we go get him at about 4:00. We all miss him while he is gone, especially Haily. He had a really good first day his best friend is in his class and a couple of other kids from last year, and all his buddies from last year got together at recess and played football again. He had fun eating lunch at school, and he got to go to music class yesterday and he really liked that sometimes she lets them play the instruments he is allready looking forward to that. I think it will be a really fun year for him.

last saturday of summer

Kyle starts school this week so this was our last weekend of summer. Saturday the youth from church were going to Vantage to go boating they told marc that they didnt need him to come but that if he wanted to he could and he could bring his family so we decided at the last minute to go. It turned out to be really fun. There was a nice sandy beach the kids built sand castles and there was a little swimming area they had fun playing in the water. Kyle and Marc went out on the boat and Kyle got to go tubing again, he has decided that he really likes that.

Big girl beds

I have been working on painting the twins room so that we could take down their cribs and put up their big girl beds. It has taken me forever, for those of you that had not seen their room it was dark blue with bright red and orange trim I had to put at least two coats on and sometimes three to cover it all up. It is finally done(except for the ceiling) so today we put up their new beds. While Marc was taking down the cribs Katie came up and started crying about him taking down her bed, in fact she cried so hard she passed out she was so upset. I didnt know they were so attached to their cribs. Once they saw their new beds they were pretty happy. We will see how they do sleeping in them tonight. My Mom made the quilts they look so nice when the girls saw them again they kept saying grandmas house, they were pretty excited.

Now that we are home

Now that we are home we have been busy with some projects, we are trying to get the twins room painted The whole room needs at least two coats of paint to cover up the dark blue and reds, it is taking awhile to get painted. we are also enjoying our last few weeks of summer we have went to the park a few times and gone bike riding and swimming. here's a funny twin story: I was downstairs folding laundry and went upstairs to put it away and the girls were standing in the hallway outside the bathroom with the shampoo and they were pouring it into each others hair and washing it. The only problem was it wasnt only in their hair it was all over. I wish I would have had my camera with me it was pretty cute. last Friday Kyle had a birthday party so Marc and I took the girls out on the town we went and got ice cream and then went miniture golfing and to the park we had a great time.

vacation entry #5

After we left the water park on friday we headed over to the family reunion. They had it at the church property where my Grandparents used to live as the caretakers of the property, it was fun to go back there, as a kid we spent a lot of time there but I havent been there in years. It has changed quite a bit. We spent the afternoon checking it out, the kids liked all the fun swings and the playground, then they had a fun game of kickball with everyone.

That night we sat around roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and visiting with family, it was really nice.

When Marc was putting Nicole to bed he realized that something was wrong with her arm, she dislocated it once before so we were sure that was the problem but we could not get it back into place so we ended up taking her to the emergency room. When the man came to take an xray he had to bend her arm down and that popped it into place and then she was fine. The next morning we played some games and had a pinata for the kids, and my Grandma and Grandpa told some stories about their family. It was a good time, it is allways nice to get together with family. Well that sums up our family vacation we had a great time, and are allready looking forward to next time.

Thursday Marc and I packed up the kids and all our stuff and headed over to the Great Wolf Lodge, it is this hotel that has a big indoor water park. We could check into the hotel at 1:oo and start swimming so that is what we did, it was great they had a big section of slides and water toys just for little kids, the twins had a great time. They also had a wave pool which Kyle and Hailey thought was great, and they had a lot of bigger slides. Hailey decided she would stick with the little kid slides and the wave pool but Kyle liked the big slides. We stayed and played for a few hours and then checked into our room and got dinner, then Marc took the big kids back and I put the twins to bed. marc had a really good time with Kyle and Hailey. Then we got up the next morning ate breakfast and headed back over for more fun in the water. We had a good time it was nice spending that fun time with our kids.

Wednesday night after we got back from the beach we decided to have some competitions. The first one was a wood chopping and hauling contest. My dad had a lot of wood back in the woods that needed to be chopped and then brought out, so each family had ten minutes to see how much they could bring out of the woods. Marc, Kyle and I were a team we thought we were doing great we had 32 peices but it turned out that we didnt do very well at all the winning team was Daniel and Heather with 68 pieces. Next we had a pickle ball tournament which Marc and i didnt do so well at either, My Dad ended up winning and he was playing without a partner. Next we came inside for some food competitions the kids had a cookie eating contest to see who could eat a cookie the fastest without using their hands.

Then the adults had a pie eating contest and a root beer chugging contest. you had to be in one of the contests. I was in the pie eating contest I couldnt stop laughing so I didnt eat mine real fast, but it was sure funny watching everyone eat pie with no hands.

Next came the root beer the goal was to see who could drink their can the fastest. I cant remember who won but Marc was definately the funniest, for some reason when we he dumped a bunch in his mouth he could not swallow so it just kept running out of his mouth he ended up with the whole can down the front of him.

After all the contests were over all the boys decided to give themselves Mohawks, Im not really sure why. We had some very interesting hairstyles for the next few days. Marc and my dad can no longer do the mohawk look, but they didnt want to be left out so they got a peice of tape and used some hair off of the heads of those that still have hair and ended up with quite the Mohawks.

That night Rachel and Leah and Joe took Kyle and Garret out and let them sleep in the cabin. Kyle said it was the best nights sleep he ever had.

Tuesday Morning Marc got to go and play volleyball with everyone, which is one of the things that he looks forward to most about going to my parents when everyone is there. When he got back from that we loaded the kids in the car and went to the Zoo. We haven't been to the zoo for a couple of years the twins have never been so we all had a really good time. everyone loved the fish, I think the kids could have sat snd watched the fish tank all day. And the monkeys were lots of fun to watch.

That night after we got back the boys decided they needed a boys night out so they all went to out to dinner and played some more volleyball.

Wednesday we all went to this beach called Penrose Point, it has this big piece of land that is covered by water when the tide is in but when the tide is out you can walk all the way out on it and see all kinds of sea animals. We saw tons of great stuff, star fish, moon snails, fish, crabs, and Kyles favorite, eels. The twins did not like it, you had walk through some mud and they did not like that at all, but Kyle and Hailey loved it.

Vacation entry #1

This year for our Family Vacation we headed over to my parents house. All of my sisters and their husbands and kids were there. We told my Mom and Dad that we would get there on Tuesday but we ended up going on Sunday they were all surprised and excited to see us there early. My Mom had just finished making homemade doughnuts so we sat around eating doughnuts and visiting with everyone, it was so good to see everyone. My Dad has been working on building a cabin in the woods behind his house, he wants to start having grandpa camp and having all the Grandkids come spend a week at his house doing projects and playing with Grandma and Grandpa and sleeping in the cabin in the woods. So Monday all the boys went out and worked on it all morning and pretty much got it finished it looks really good. Monday afternoon all the girls went out to lunch and for some shopping it was so fun hanging out with my Mom and all my sisters, i think we will try to go shopping and have lunch everytime we all get together. That night we went out to a friends lakefront cabin and played in the lake they hooked inner tubes up to the boat and took everyone for rides around the lake, Hailey decided she does not like that and Kyle loved it.
