Summer vacation week #1

It is hard to believe that I am writing a summer vacation post already, but it is true we have already enjoyed our first week of summer vacation.  Monday of course we celebrated the twins birthday, which was very fun.  Tuesday we went to the temple, after the temple we took the kids to this park that they really like, it has a big fun splash pad, and we had a picnic and played in the water for awhile.  Everyone had fun.  Lydia screamed the first time she got hit with the water, but by the time that we left she was having a good time to.

When we got home from the temple we were out in the yard and our neighbor asked if we wanted to come over and swim, of course the kids were very excited for that.  Marc tried taking Lydia in the water but she did not like it, so she and I sat and watched everyone play.  They jumped off the diving board and went down the slide, Marc and Kyle had a good water fight.  All of the kids are getting a lot more comfortable in the water so they really have a lot of fun, even Lydia will like it eventually.

On Wednesday we got out the slip and slide.  The kids had a great time, Marc even joined them a little bit.  Lydia and Adele sure had fun getting drinks from the water spraying out, they were pretty cute.

The rest of the week Marc has had to work the night shift at work, so he has to be there at 7:30 pm and gets off at 7:00 am.  This is the first time he has worked this shift (and hopefully the last).  When he got home in the mornings he went straight to bed so I had to keep the kids quiet.  We went to the park one morning and out shopping and  to the library one morning, and we watched lots of movies and Gilligan's Island episodes. Tonight is his last one, he is bringing doughnuts home in the morning to celebrate.

Katie and Nicoles birthday

Monday was Katie and Nicoles 5th Birthday.  It was a very fun day.  We got up in the morning and had blueberry pancakes and scrambled eggs, and they opened presents from us.  They got some bubbles, a hula hoop and jump rope.  Kyle and Hailey each made them some special pictures and things to.
Because it was birthday number 5 they got a birthday party.  We invited the kids from their primary class.  There are only boys in there class, so we had a boy named Dallin and a boy named Gavin and then of course Garret and Spencer and Adele came to the party.  We started out by trying to play some games with water balloons.  First we tried a balloon toss, then a relay race and who could throw the balloon into the hula hoop.  The games didn't go very well, but we tried.  Finally we just put the water balloons on the trampoline and let them play.

Then the kids decorated their bags to put candy in from the pinata.
Then the pinata.  It was a little crazy, luckily no one got hurt, and I think that everyone had fun.

next came presents and birthday cake.  They got some really fun gifts.  The cake and ice cream was yummy.  Before we got the candles put in Lydia climbed up on the table and grabbed a handful of Nicoles cake.
Lydia and Adele were having fun talking into the jump rope(telephone)

Fathers Day

We had a nice Fathers Day.  Marc wanted cinamon rolls for breakfast so I got up early and made them for everyone.  It was fun because my Dad was here for breakfast to.  The kids had cute presents for him, card and pictures, it was fun looking at all the stuff they made.  After church we spent the day as a family playing in the yard going for a walk and playing games.  Marc is a wonderful father and it is nice having a day every year to honor him.  One of the things that I love best about him is that he always has time for the kids, I know that  is tired when he comes home from work but he still listens to and plays with the kids.  I am so thankful that he is the father of our children.

schools out!

School is out for the summer.  Boy did this year fly by.  Kyle and Hailey both had a really good school year.  Kyle ended up really liking the program at the new school, it took him awhile to make friends and get used to it, but it ended up being a good thing for him.  He had a wonderful teacher who really pushed him and expected a lot out of all the kids, they were able to do a lot of really neat things and learned a lot.  Kyle loved all the chemistry experiments and the books that they read.  Hailey also had a wonderful teacher, her teacher loved Hailey.  Hailey was her special helper, she called Hailey Mini Mrs. Bossert. Hailey was in a class full of a wonderful group of kids some of which I think Hailey will continue to spend time with even though she will be at a new school next year.  It was a great year, and now we have all summer to spend time together.

baby Titus

Rachel had her baby Friday evening.  We had a fun weekend with Grandma and Grandpa and Rachels kids.  They even got to have a sleepover at our house, my kids thought it was pretty fun to wake up and have their cousins here.  We were so happy to finally meet baby Titus today, he is as cute as can be.

camping

Marc took Kyle, Hailey, Katie and Nicole camping Friday night.  Saturday was our Stake service day up at the church property so they said anyone who wanted to could camp Friday night and then be there for breakfast and service projects the next day.  They had a great time, I have had so much fun hearing all the stories.  They went for lots of hikes around the property, ate lots of smores, told funny stories, stayed up late, ate breakfast, and helped set up the Tee pees for girls camp, and most of all had lots of fun together.
