Utah vacation day 2

We slept as long as we could this morning.  We found a sacrament meeting to go to, the kids think it is crazy how many churches there are here.  We came home from church and took a nap.  Then we went to Provo and visited my Grandpa and my Aunt Gayle.  It was fun to see them, we haven't seen them in years.  We had a nice visit, they treated us to very yummy ice cream and cookies.  I am so glad we were able to stop by and see them.
We took the kids for a drive and showed them where we lived when we met, and some of our favorite places in Provo.  We also saw both of the Provo Temples. We loved seeing the new Temple, it is beautiful.

Utah vacation day 1

We left for Utah today.  The kids and Marc had a youth temple trip in the tri-cities in the afternoon so we drove there and when they were done we started our trek to Utah.

Our drive was going great until we got to Pendleton, where they said the freeway was closed and we had to exit, the sign said it was a detour, so we got on our phone and found a different way.  We realized that we were driving right towards the fire, and there were no cars on the road, at that point we just decided to keep going, the fire was on both sides of the road, at one point Kyle said he didn't think we should keep going that we should pull of at the rest stop, we looked at the rest stop and it was on fire.  We made it over the pass just fine, but later found out that the whole way from Pendleton to Baker City was shut down all night.  It probably wasn't the smartest thing to do but we were sure glad that we didn't have to spend the night in Pendleton. The rest of the drive was uneventful except for the fact that it was long and late at night, we arrived at 4 in the morning.

Summer Vacation week 7

I didn't take a single picture this week.  We had a good week.  It was very hot this week.  We swam a couple of times which was fun.  Tuesday night we went to a baseball game, we really enjoy going to the games, but usually only last for about half of it, which is what we did this time as well.  The kids were really into playing on the trampoline this week, every morning and evening they were out on it playing all kinds of games.  Also this week we worked on getting ready for our vacation to Utah.

Summer Vacation Week 6

Summer is half way over, it is flying by.  We had a nice week, not a whole lot going on, it was nice to just spend time at home with everyone.  The girls did have tennis lessons everyday, which they really enjoyed and are getting so much better at tennis.

Kyle and Hailey spent a lot of time working on jobs around the house to earn money for school clothes, they cleaned all the windows, weeded, and mowed the lawn.

The girls did an art project while I ran to Costco.

The kids each picked a movie that they wanted to watch during the week and we watched a movie after lunch everyday.

The kids like to put the sprinkler under the trampoline and then play soccer on the trampoline.

Saturday we went to the temple, I had fun hanging out with the kids while Marc was in the Temple.  When he finished we did some shopping and then had a picnic and played at the park, it was a fun day.

Summer vacation week 5

This week both Kyle and Hailey were gone most of the week. Kyle and Marc left Tuesday morning for a scouting High Adventure trip and Hailey left Tuesday morning for Girls camp.  Katie, Nicole, Lydia and I had a nice quiet week at home.  Here are some highlights from our week.

-Playing with playdough- I really dont like the stuff, it takes forever to clean up, but they love it and look forward to the few times that I let them get all the playdough stuff out.

-watching lots of movies
-swimming in the little pool

-Grocery shopping with me and getting to pick out a doughnut
-a long walk to McDonalds to use their ice cream cone coupons
-entertaining me with their pirate plays

Friday night Marc and I got to go up to Girls camp for their testimony night, it was fun, it reminded me of all of my girls camp days.  Hailey had a great time.  Here are some pictures that were put up on facebook
For their skit they did a fun dance called Mormon Missions Style
Friday night they made all the men go up on stage and do a silly dance
Each ward was assigned a mission ours was the Seoul Korea mission
All of the first years had to do the silly dance also
They made sleeping mats for the homeless out of plastic grocery bags

Marc and I eating dinner with them Friday night we sat across from some girls that are Kyles age and had a great time hearing all kinds of stories about Kyle
This was the entrance to their campsite it had all of their names written in Korean.
She had a wonderful time, I am so thankful for all of the leaders that put so much time into making it such a great experience for these girls.

Kyle spent the week doing all kinds of crazy stuff.  Tuesday they did a service project cleaning up a bike trail. Wednesday they went rock climbing- Marc and Kyle both enjoyed it, although Kyle doesnt like heights he still did it and had fun.
Thursday they went hiking, it sounds like they really liked jumping off of a rock into the lake even though it was freezing  cold.
Friday they went mountain biking, They rode the ski lift up to the top of the mountain and then there was different bike trails you could ride down with all kinds of jumps and things.  Kyle loved it, he is covered in bruises and scratches, but nothing that seemed to slow him down.

Saturday afternoon after Hailey got home we went swimming at the neighbors, they were out of town so we had the pool to ourselves, everyone had fun.  Lydia has no fear she was the first one off the diving board, I have to watch her close.
