Back to school

The kids started school on Tuesday.  Kyle is the first one to leave, he catches the bus at 7:00.  He is in 6rh grade so he is at the middle school again this year.  Last year all of his best friends all ended up with the same schedule and they all got the same classes again this year, so he was really excited.  He had a great first day.  He liked all of his teachers and fun with all of his friends, I think it will be a great year for him.
for some reason I couldn't get his picture to turn

The girls all leave at about 8:15.  Hailey is in fourth grade it is her last year at elementary school, she got the same teacher that Kyle had in fourth grade, which she was very happy about, I know she will have a wonderful year, she loves school.  I didn't request for Katie and Nicole to be in the same class this year like I have in the past, but the put them together and I think it will be great, they seem really happy about it.  I don't know much about their teacher, but I have heard all kinds of great things and they came home so excited that I know they are going to love second grade.

I forgot how crazy the mornings are trying to get everyone ready for school, and how crazy it is when everyone gets home, it might take me a few more days to get used to it again.  Lydia has loved playing all day, she seems to be fine without them, but on Tuesday night when everyone got home, and they all had things to tell me Lydia didn't handle it so well, I have never seen her so upset, I think she was feeling left out or something, but she screamed and cried all night, but she seemed fine tonight.  I think it is going to be a great school year.

summer vacation week 10

We ended our summer with a very fun week.  Monday Marc had the day off so we went to vantage and played in the water and sand, it was a beautiful hot summer day, and we pretty much had the park to ourselves.

Friday the girls found out what classes they would be in this year.  The twins will be together again, and will be with a teacher that I have heard really good things about.  Hailey got the same fourth grade teacher that Kyle had, she is with two of the other girls from her church class, so they were all really happy.

We planned an end of summer party for Friday night.  We invited the kids in the neighborhood, and some friends from church.  We ended up with about 20 kids at our house.  We played all  kinds of outdoor night games, everyone had a great time.  We ended the night with everyone making smores.

All the kids covering their eyes and counting for playing sardines

Some of the kids listening to Marc explain a game

Saturday Kyle had his first football game, they won by 1 point.  It was pretty exciting game.
He is number 80, on the end

Saturday night I gave all the girls haircuts for school, they all look very cute.  We just trimmed Haileys,  Katie got a couple of inches cut off, and Nicole got hers cut quite a bit, it is up to her shoulders, and we cut a little bit off the back of Lydias so it looks more even.

Sunday we checked off our summer checklist one last time, we did just about everything on the list.

It has been a great summer, I think we are all a little sad to see it come to an end.

summer vacation week 9

Only one week left, it sure flew by fast.  This past week was another fun one.  Monday was our extra fun day, Marc had the day off, so we planned a trip to the water park, there was another family from church that wanted to join us, so that made it extra fun.  We got there as soon as it opened and played for about 4 hours.  It is a great little park, it is fun because there are quite a few things to do, but it is small enough that all of the older kids were able to go off  without the parents and play and do what they wanted to do.  Our friends had a boy Kyles age so they ran around together, they loved the huge diving boards and the surfing thing.  Our friends also have a girl Hailey's age so they ran around together, they liked the lazy river, and the slides.  The twins also had a friend their age, and they were to small for the slides, but they all tried the surfing, but their favorite was the lazy river.  I hung out with Lydia and she loved the little kid slides, she would go down the slide and then crawl through the water on her tummy(she said she was swimming) and then she would climb up the ladder and go again. It was lots of fun, we were glad that we were able to fit in this summer.  We got home from that and my parents got here, they were coming to get fruit.  We had a nice visit with them, and my Mom and I were able to get a lot of my canning done.  They left Tuesday morning.  The rest of the week was more of the same, lots of playing outside, reading books, riding bikes and scooters, hanging out with friends, football practice, swimming, and playing games.  The kids are starting to get excited for school, we sorted through our school supply lists and got it all organized, Kyle got his schedule, he is with most of friends that he was with last year, and his first elective is PE, so he is happy about that.  I am getting excited about getting back on a routine.

summer vacation week 8

For the most part our week was more of the usual, trips to the library, riding bikes, swimming, playing with friends, football practices, Popsicles, trampoline, yard work and fun.  Marc did have Tuesday off so we went to the temple, it was my turn to go in, so Marc watched the kids, I am not sure what they did while I was inside, but when I was done we went to a park and had a picnic and played on the toys for awhile and then played at the splash pad, we had a fun time. When we got there a big group of kids were just getting to the splash pad so we played on the playground which was pretty much empty and as soon as we were ready for the splash pad they all left to eat lunch so we pretty much had it to ourselves, it worked out perfect.

Kyle got to wear his football gear to practice this week, he was pretty happy about that.

summer vacation week 7

Monday Marc got off work earlier than usual so my kids and the neighbor boy decided to get water balloons ready and get Marc when he got home.  They had it all planned out, unfortunately it didn't go quite as planned, but they still thought it was great fun.

Tuesday they all swam with Wesley, he is the neighbor boy that they hang out with a lot.  I had fun watching them, they came up with all kinds of fun games to play in the water.

Wednesday we went to the park with a bunch of people from church.  Thursday we had a nice relaxing day at home.  Friday we met up with friends at the park for a picnic and a local event called music in the park.  We had a nice time, the music was fun, the food was great, and we enjoyed visiting with friends.  Saturday was the busiest day ever, but also a lot of fun.  We got up early had breakfast and then cleaned the house for about an hour, then we ran to a store to get gifts for the wedding receptions we had later. Kyle also wanted to stop at another store and see if they had any shorts for school, they did so that was good, while we were driving around we kept seeing all these cool old cars on the road, the kids love seeing the classic cars, and we realized it was the car show weekend and thought it would be fun to go.  We got home from shopping and the missionaries came over for their weekly meeting with Marc, as soon as they left we jumped in the car and went to the car show, I didn't know my kids were that into cars but they loved it.

We each picked our favorite one to get a picture by

We had to be back at 2:00 because Kyle had to meet up with his football team and get his equipment, we barely made it, we waited there until about 3:30 and then hurried home, the minute we got home Marc got a call to see it he could go give someone a blessing, which he did, the rest of us hurried and ate a peanut butter sandwich and got dressed so that we could be over in Selah by 5:30 for our nieces baptism, we barely made it.  After the baptism we had two wedding receptions to go to, one in Yakima and the other in Zillah, we made it to both and got home at about 9:00.  We did it all but boy were we exhausted.
