Spelling Bee

The top 3 spellers from each of the third grade classes were chosen to be in the spelling Bee.  Lydia was pretty excited to be able to be in it.  She practiced a little at home, and then Friday I got to go watch her compete, she did great, she did not win, but did her best.  She is hoping she gets to do it again next year.

Lydias program

Lydia had her third grade music program tonight.  We were all able to go cheer her on.  She was really excited because she got a part, she got to wear a poodle skirt and dance and hula hoop.  It was so cute, she did an excellent job.  The music teacher at her school it so good, we have been to so many of these cute programs and they have all been so great, the kids all know their lines and the dance moves, they are really fun to watch.

cross country skiing

Marc and Kyle went cross country skiing last weekend.  They went to the place where they usually go mountain biking. Neither of them had done it before, so they both had several falls, but had fun trying something new.

first tennis match

Kyle and Hailey had their first tennis match today.  Kyle is the top JV player so he gets to play singles, he won his match today, I think playing singles will be fun for him.  Hailey is on the girls JV team she played doubles with her friend Bella, they also won their match. 

art projects

The twins and Lydia had a lot of fun making a leprechaun trap.  They didn't catch a leprechaun but he did leave them some gold candy and a fun note.

Lydia had fun at activity days today, they made these cute flower pictures, and she was able to share the message that she learned with us at family Home Evening about how Heavenly Father shows he loves us.

awards

Lydias class was chosen to make ornaments for the governors mansion in Olympia at Christmas time, Lydias ornament was on of the ones that was chosen to be sent, and today she brought home a certificate from the Governor, she thought that was pretty cool.

Nicole had her science fair this past week, she spent the day in the tricities showing her project to different judges, she said it was a long day.  she got her award today, she was given the honesty award.  Her project didn't have the results that she had predicted but she was honest about that and just shared what she did learn.  It was a big project and a lot of work, she is glad it is done, but I think she learned a lot from it.

Basketball awards

Kyle had his basketball awards night this past week.  Basketball season was a little rough this year, but I think that some life lessons were learned, and so it worked out okay.  Kyle loves the game of basketball and plays every chance he gets.

update

The ground is still covered in snow, but it seems like maybe it is slowing down and warming up a little bit.  Kyle is playing tennis on the High School team, and playing tennis and basketball with friends whenever he can get a chance.  He went to the TOLO dance this weekend, it is a girl ask guy dance, it seems like he had a good time.

Hailey is also playing tennis on the high school team.  It has been hard because the courts are covered with snow so they have had to practice in the gym, but she is having fun with it.  She passed the written part of her drivers license test, once the snow clears she will take the driving part.  She was able to go to Youth Conference yesterday (Kyle went too but had to leave early), she loved it, her favorite class was one taught by a magician, the magic tricks were really cool,and he shared a really good message.  She had fun at the dance, there were about a thousand kids so lots of fun.

Nicole spent the weekend working on her science fair project, she will go to the science fair this week.  Her project was a lot of work but turned out looking really good.

Katie is doing well in school, she plans on playing on the soccer team when that starts up, they had postpone it because of all the snow. 

Lydia is doing great, she found out she will get to compete in the school spelling bee next week, so she has been practicing a lot,she also got a part in her music program next week she gets to hula hoop during one of the songs, we cant wait to watch it. She brought this cute snowman picture home the other day.

We had fun going to the musical that the High school put on, they did Fiddler on the Roof this year and we knew most of the kids in it, so that made it extra fun
