Summer vacation week 2

It was a very busy week. We celebrated the twins birthday Monday, and got a lot of post vacation things done. Tuesday we thought for sure Hailey was getting her mission call, but by the afternoon it hadn’t come yet and they usually come in the morning, but a little after 4 she got it.She invited a few friends over to watch her read the letter and find out where she is going. She is going to Guatemala- and will be starting October 10.

Kyle has stayed busy working, mostly for a guy from church who needs yard work done at his home and auto shop, the twins and Hailey have been babysitting quite a bit.

Thursday afternoon my sister Leah and her family came for a visit, the kids a great time together, they jumped on the trampoline, played capture the flag, and four square, and swam together, they were here until Friday night.

Saturday morning we went out to selah, Marc’s family was having a family reunion. We had fun seeing everyone and hearing some great stories about some of their ancestors. While we were there kyle told us that a family and a girl from his mission were coming to his homecoming talk on Sunday and would be getting there later Saturday, so we ran some errands and got the house all clean so we could host them. We enjoyed visiting with them Saturday night.

Sunday kyle gave his talk, he did a great job, and it was fun having so many people there that care about him.The winters the family from Idaho left right after church, but jade stayed and went back to the family reunion with us. The kids had fun running and playing with cousins

16

Katie and Nicole turned 16 today! We had fun celebrating them. We ate their favorite foods, oatmeal with blueberries, animal crackers, peanut butter and honey on their favorite bread,  barbecue chicken sandwiches, and watermelon. They went for a morning hike, babysat the cutest little boy, and went swimming. They had strawberry rhubarb crisp and homemade ice cream for treats. It was a fun day, we love them and loved making their day special.

Fathers day

Today we celebrated Marc and what a great father he is. It was special that he had all of the kids home, that probably won’t happen very often anymore. The
kids all wrote him a nice note and Lydia made him some awesome glasses. Church was nice, after sacrament meeting we went and met with the stake president so that he could release kyle from being a missionary, it was nice to hear kyle share some thoughts about his mission. Marc is a great father, the kids are very lucky to have him as their dad

Family vacation days 7 and 8

We left Friday morning and drove all day. It was a long hot drive, there was a lot of traffic, so it was slow going. We stopped in Beaver Utah for ice cream. And then continued on and stopped around midnight and slept for a few hours.

Lots of dance parties in the car

Saturday we drove to Oakley and picked up kyle, it was fun to see him, we stopped so he could say goodbye to some friends, and then we were on our way home. We had fun hearing all his stories. It was another long drive, but we made it.

It was a great vacation, lots of good memories made and fun adventures.

Family vacation day 6

Our last day in California, we made it a fun one. We started out at the beach. We took the boogie boards back to La Jolla, we played there for quite a while.

The twins roller bladed

We built sand castles

And played spike ball

I had heard that the pier was a popular photo place, so we walked down to it and took some pictures

Next we drove into town and found some tshirts for souvenirs, and then walked to the taco shop we heard was really good. We waited in a long line, but the tacos were very good and fun to try

Tonight we went for a walk, there was a beach that we hadn’t been to, but had wanted to see, so we walked through town. There happened to be a car show going on, probably the best car show we have ever been to, the streets were packed with people and there were bands playing and lots of really cool cars. We made it to the beach and watched the surfers a little bit, and then walked back

Family vacation day 5

Another fun sunny day! We started our day at old town San Diego, we had fun walking around and learning a little bit about the history of the area. We also were able to tour the Mormon battalion historical site, they did a nice job, we enjoyed it

Next we went to Belmont park on mission beach, Hailey and I rode the roller coaster, it was fun, but the beach was pretty crowded, we walked around a little, but didn’t stay long

We drove out to Coronado, and really enjoyed the beach there, it was warm and not crowded, we played for a couple of hours. They played in the waves and looked for shells and even played some spike bal.
