Summer Vacation week 2

 Some highlights from week 2

Celebrating the twins birthday

Interesting summer weather: it was quite cool the beginning of the week, we also had a big storm come through one night with lots of rain

Lots of physical activity: Lydia did tennis lessons this week. The twins are the cross country captains so they are in charge of the summer running. Katie is running more, still on her own not with the team yet. We played pickle ball one night, lots of walks, lots of basketball

Sewing: the girls are all working on sewing projects, Nicole finished her baby blanket, Katie is working on a quilt, and Lydia is working on Barbie clothes

Fun in the hot sun: water ball fights on the trampoline one hot afternoon

New church callings: Katie and Nicole were called to be the ward music leaders, so they will lead the music in Sacrament meeting, they aren’t very excited about this, but I’m sure they will do just fine.

17

The twins turned 17 today. We had fun celebrating with them. We started the day with their favorite breakfast of oatmeal and blueberries. They played basketball all morning and then we went to the fabric store, they wanted fabric to work on some quilting projects they are working on. They babysat for a couple of hours and then Marc took them on a little hike. We had their favorite dinner Baja borrito bowls. They opened the presents we got them, they do a lot of biking so they got mirrors and water bottle holders for their bikes and new bike shorts. We got everything put on their bikes and they went on a ride, and came home to homemade ice cream cones and ice cream that they picked out. And now they are ending their day with a movie. It was a fun day, we love those two, they are a lot of fun, it is crazy that they are 17 already but they are sure growing up to be amazing young women, we can’t to see what this next year brings for them.

Fathers day

We had a nice Father’s Day. Lots of yummy food, Marc got to talk to all of his kids, a visit out to selah to see Marc’s dad, and church, all of which made for a really nice day. I am thankful for Marc, he is a great dad our kids are very lucky to have him as a dad.

Summer vacation week 1

Some highlights from our week

Temple trip Saturday, we always love being in the temple together

Last day of school on Tuesday: the twins finished up their junior year, they had a great year, they really loved their classes, and did really well. Lydia finished up 7th grade, she did really well this year, I had several teachers tell us what a great student she is and that she is a leader in her classes

Parties: Lydia had 3 friend parties this week, she has a large group of friends and they like to hang out all the time. One party was kickball and walking to get frozen yogurt, one was a night time swimming party, and was a girl summer kick off party with lunch, crafts and swimming

Swimming: one of the girls favorite summer activities is swimming so they were happy to be able to get in the pool this week. Lydia swam at 2 of her parties and the twins swam at a YW activity

Watching the baby Robbins and quails: we have a Robbins nest right by our house, we spent a lot of time this week keeping the neighborhood cats away from the nest, finally by the end of the week the babies were big enough to fly away from the nest. We also had some baby quails born on our street, they are the cutest tiniest babies we have ever seen, so fun to watch.

Camping: Friday afternoon we took off on a camping trip, we stayed at a park called sun lakes. The girls swam, we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and went for a walk. Everyone but me slept pretty well, I thought it was way too loud. We got up and had breakfast and then went and saw some of the sights in the area, we picnicked at the coolee dam, and then went to another state park to swim for awhile. It was a fun little get away.

It was a great first week of summer

Hailey

Hailey is doing well. Last week when she was at the ocean with her zone for pday, she got a call from the APs, they told her she and her companion needed to pack up and be ready to move to the city that night. There were some issues with the sisters that were living in the city so they switched spots. It was hard to move so quickly and not be able to say goodbye to all the people that she loves there on the coast. She has been in the city for over a week and is adjusting to the knew area, it is a hard area it is all gated communities, it is hard to meet people, but she is a hard worker and is figuring it out.

Kyle

Kyle was able to spend a week in Canada with my dad and some friends kayaking and fishing. He had a great time, they stopped at our house on their way back to utah, we loved seeing them and hearing about their adventures.

Gap 2 gap

Lydia ran in the gap 2 gap race on Saturday. This is a race that all of my kids have loved doing, it was cancelled for a couple of years because of COVID, and it didn’t come back as big as it used to be. It used to be huge, lots of kids and families and this year it was really small, still a lot of fun though. Lydia did it with a couple of her friends, she did the running and the kayaking parts of the race. She did great and had fun, they got second place.  Unfortunately I think she overdid it and it was really hot and she came home sick, a bad headache and she threw up, she rested for a bit and then she was fine.
