Injuries

Katie fell the other day at practice, she tripped over a wire and scraped her leg up pretty good and hurt her elbow, we got an  X-ray, there was a lot of swelling so it was hard to tell if there was a fracture and then she fell again Thursday before her race and hurt her elbow again, so we did another x ray and she does have a fracture, so she is wearing a sling.

Lydia has been having a lot of back pain, she hasn’t been able to do anything active for quite awhile we saw a doctor and tried physical therapy, this last week we got an x ray, she has a pars defect with grade 1 spondylolithesis, which means there is a fracture in a little bone in her spine and her spine is slipping forward. We are hoping to get in to see a specialist this week so we can get more information and know better how to help her.

20

Hailey turned 20 yesterday, this is her only birthday she will spend on her mission, it seems like it was a good one, her companion got her a cake and they were going to eat it today, she also got some nice birthday wishes over email and Facebook. We got to talk to her last night, she was seemed tired it had been a long day, there are a lot of protesters out on the streets in Guatemala so they had to stock up on food because a lot of stores aren’t open because of the protesting, it is also raining a lot so she said walking home they were walking in a river. Also last week she did a lot of teaching at 2 different zone conferences. We got a letter last week from her mission presidents wife telling us about how they decided to train her to give shots so she gave a shot to her mission president and then the other missionary’s, and tomorrow she has to travel and give another rabies shot to an elder. She is learning a lot and loving her time on her mission, we love her and are so proud of her and can’t wait to see what this next year brings

Homecoming

The twins had their homecoming dance Saturday night. They both went with boys from our ward, and they got pictures and had dinner with a group of friends, they had a fun night.

Sunfair race

This past weekend the twins raced here in Yakima at the sunfair race, this race is a little different there are 7 different races, so top runners from each team race each other and 2nd place runners race each other and so on. It is a fun race to watch, Katie got 1st place in her race and Nicole got 2nd and their team ended up winning the race, we were all pretty excited for them.

Lydia

Lydia was really excited to run cross country this year, she was the captain of the girls team and had a couple of great practices, but then her back started to hurt. It hurt really bad and she couldn’t run, we got her into her doctor who suggested that she try some physical therapy, so her and I have been spending a lot of time at the therapy office the last couple of weeks, she has a lot of exercises to work on at home, we are hoping it starts to feel better before basketball season because she really wants to play

She also went to the dentist and they said she needed to have 3 baby teeth pulled so she had them pulled last week, it wasn’t much fun, her mouth bled for a couple of hours so she wasn’t able to go to school and had to eat really soft food for a few days, she is healing up now just in time to get braces on next week.

It seems like I have taken her to some appointment almost everyday for the past couple of weeks, it is fun hanging out with her, but she is missing a lot of school, so I think we will both be happy when the appointments sow down a little
