Christmas 2018

We had a very nice Christmas day.  The girls started singing Christmas songs at about 5 and continued until we got up at about 6.  Kyle had a headache so he layed on the couch for most of the morning.  We started with our stockings, they were filled lots of fun little things.  Then we opened gifts from each other, the kids pick names and have fun getting something for that person.  They were all really excited to give their gifts, this was probably my favorite part of Christmas.  Then we stopped and ate our yummy Christmas breakfast.  Then we moved on to the gifts that Santa left, everyone got some really nice gifts, and we had fun watching each other open their presents.  When we were all done some of us took naps and some of us got busy playing with new toys.  We played all day, we got a laser tag game that was a hit so we played a lot of rounds of that.  We had our nice Christmas dinner and then ended the night with a movie.

Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve watching movies and getting final things ready for Christmas.  Marc worked most of the day, and then in the evening we went over to a friends house.  For Christmas Eve dinner everyone brings some of their favorite foods to share, so there was a lot of great food.  Then they have a talent show, this year Katie brought some artwork to show everyone, Lydia did her backbend and walked around while doing it, Marc played the guitar and sang a funny song that he wrote, and Nicole tried to whistle a Christmas song, but she was smiling so much that she couldnt get her lips to work right.  This year they also added in a giant nerf gun war that everyone loved.  And then we acted out the nativity, there are a lot of kids so we put all the parts in a bowl and each kids picks a part, the rule is that you cant complain about your part.  Nicole and Lydia were shepherds, Hailey was a sheep, Katie was a wise man and Kyle was Mary.  Our friends daughter was Joseph, she helped Kyle pick out his outfit, it was an interesting Nativity.  We had a lot of fun.  We came home and put on our new Christmas PJs, read a couple of Christmas stories and then went to bed.

Pre Christmas fun

This year was a little different, the kids had school through the Friday before Christmas, so we didn't have a lot of time for all the fun Christmas stuff that we like to do.  We tried to squeeze as much in the weekend before Christmas as we could.  We went on our Christmas light drive, the lights were great this year.  The girls and I did a lot of baking on Saturday, and we delivered goodies to neighbors and friends.  Sunday, church was really nice, we spent the evening together playing fun Christmas games. 

Snow

We woke up Sunday morning to a little bit of snow.  Just enough to cover everything, but the girls were able to have go out have some fun, and it really made us even more excited for Christmas.

Katie and Nicole are in an art class this semester they just finished a section on clay, they really liked it, and brought home some of their projects the other day.

Turtleneck Tuesday

Today was Turtleneck Tuesday at the high school and Junior high, they all looked pretty snazzy in those turtlenecks.

gingerbread houses

We had fun Sunday night making gingerbread houses.  The kids really get into creating their houses, they all turned out great.
