summer vacation week #6

I cant believe how fast summer is flying by, only 4 more weeks until school starts. We had another fun filled week. We painted wind chimes on Monday I forgot to take pictures but they turned out cute and we had fun painting them. Kyle and Hailey needed new bikes this year they had outgrown their other ones, so Marc and I decided that we would buy them bikes and then they would have to earn half of the money for the bikes. It has taken until this week for them to finally earn the money so we loaded the bikes up in the truck and went over to the church parking lot and let them ride.

On Wednesday we packed a picnic and went to Vantage and played in the water and built sand castles and had a picnic at the park. It is a lot of fun for the kids they love playing in the sand and the water stays shallow for quite awhile so they can play in it. Hailey spent most of her time finding pretty shells and Kyle tried to catch some fish. It was a great way to spend a very hot summer day.

Thursday we made pineapple upside down cupcakes I got the recipe ot of a magazine they were lots of fun to make because the kids got to put in their own butter, sugar and pineapple and then pour their cake batter on top. They turned out really good.
Saturday night we roasted marshmallows and made smores. Our neighbors came over and joined us. We had a good time. We threw all the kids in the bath afterwards because boy were they sticky.

This was a sign that Kyle put in the garden, he was tired of Hailey eating all of the red tomatoes before he got to them. So he put up this no girls allowed sign.

On Wednesday we went and picked blueberries. A friend from church told me about this blueberry farm where you could pick your own berries and they were only 1.25 a pound. We had a really good time the kids really enjoyed it, we spent about 40 minutes there and in that time we picked 18 pounds of blueberries. I think we will be going there every year. Katie
Here they are with all their berries.

On thursday we decided to drive up to Mt Raineer to Sunrise. We have been wanting to go for awhile. It was a fun adventure. It was absolutely beautiful , Chinook pass that you go over to get there was just beautiful. We got up there and got out of the car and were immediately attacked by swarms of mosquito's, it was awful. Luckily and very nice lady that was parked near us was kind enough to share her mosquito repellent, it helped but we are all suffering from the bites still. We went on a 1.5 mile hike that took us up were we could really see the whole area. The kids loved that there was snow on the ground in the middle of summer They were trying to have snowball fights and slide around on it. The mosquitoes were just to bad so after the hike we got in the van and ate lunch in there and then took off. We drove about 10 miles down to the white river camp and picnic area and we got out and there was not a single mosquito so we hiked down to the river and the kids had a great time throwing rocks in it we wished we would have waited and had lunch there.

Marcs new truck

Marc has been wanting to buy a truck for awhile, he finally did it today. He has wanted a truck so that he can do projects around the house more easily and so we can load up bikes and stuff in the back and go for a family outing. It seems like a really nice truck and Im sure that we will put it to good use.

Happy Birthday Marc!!

Marc turned 31 today. We kind of celebrated his birthday all weekend. The kids and I gave him an air compressor with a nail gun, we gave it to him early so he could use it on the shed that he built, he said it worked really good and he was glad that he had it. Friday night Leah and Joe watched the kids and Marc and I went out to dinner for his birthday(thanks Mom and Dad) it was nice to have a quiet dinner with just the two of us. Today we did make his favorite oatmeal cake with vanilla ice cream and sang the birthday song and blew out the candles. Hopefully he had a nice birthday we love him lots.

Summer vacation week #3

We had another great week of summer. On Monday for our craft we learned about the American flag and then we made flags out of Popsicle sticks it was fun, they turned out cute. we enjoyed the library and the park and we didn't have time to cook on Thursday because we had to get our house cleaned because Leah and Joe and Naomi were coming that night. They got here Thursday night, Marc and Joe went to get supplies to build a shed in our backyard, and Leah and I spent the evening talking it is always fun to get together with my sisters and catch up on everything. They were here all day Friday and Saturday. The boys spent a lot of time building the shed it looks great. We all spent a couple of hours each afternoon over at our neighbors house swimming it was lots of fun, Joe, Kyle and Marc put on quite the diving and sliding show it was very entertaining. And we had fun swimming around with the girls, it was so hot this weekend it was really nice that we were able to use the pool. We also spent a lot of time enjoying baby Naomi she is a lot of fun she smiles a lot, and Kyle and Hailey were being silly and even got her to giggle a little bit. We also spent some time picking and eating lots of cherries, and we barbecued and played games on the 4th . It was a very fun week, we are so glad that Joe and Leah live closer now and we are able to get together on weekends like this, we cant wait to do it again.
