first day of school

Today was the first day of school.  All of the kids were excited but a little bit nervous.  Nicole confessed to me later that she hadn't wanted to get out of bed this morning because she was nervous.  Kyle and Hailey are at a new elementary school this year because of boundary changes and the twins started kindergarten.  My pictures didn't turn out good, I was in a big hurry so it is just good that there are a couple of pictures.  I was going to drive them but at the last minute decided to have them ride the bus so that the bus driver would know that she needed to stop at our stop.  I met them at the school and helped them get settled.  The twins teacher is Ms. Abeyeta, she seems very nice, the girls had a great day.  I was worried that they wouldn't want to ride the bus, but they said that was their favorite part.  I think they are going to love kindergarten.  Haileys teacher is Mr. James she says he is really funny and really nice.  She has one friend that she already knew in her class, and I am sure that she will make many new friends.  Kyles teacher is Mrs. Barber he came home and said it was awesome.  He knows 4 boys in his class from football.  I think it will be a great year for all of them

Lydia and I had a nice morning.  The kids are always playing with her so I was afraid that she might be a little clingy without them here, but she was great, in fact I think she kind of liked the quiet house where she could do whatever she wanted.  We picked the twins up at lunch time, and then she played with them in the afternoon.

summer vacation week #10

The last week of summer vacation, it is hard to believe that it is already over.  It was a busy week.  The kids all had a dentist appointment, the dentist thought it was pretty cute seeing all the kids lined up in the chairs, they were all cavity free.  Of course we spent lots of time at football practice, Kyle had two games on Saturday in Sunnyside, it was so hot, but we still had a good time watching him play.  The kids found out who their teachers are going to be.  I got to meet Katie and Nicoles teacher she seems really nice.  Kyle and Hailey each have a friend in their classes.  I think they are all excited.  My Mom came on Thursday and we got a lot of my canning done.  My Dad was here for part of the weekend to. It was fun to see them and it was so nice having help getting most of my canning done.

Lydia really liked the blackberry jam that we made.

Summer vacation week # 9

I think that we are all getting a little bit ready for school to start.  Everyone seems to be a little low on patience, probably me the most.  Most of our week consisted of the normal stuff.  The kids did have a lot of fun painting a mural one day, they were really proud of it.

Friday night we had Marcs sister Jessica and her family over.  We had dinner together and the kids all had a great time playing together.  Jessica cut Katie and Nicoles hair.  I wanted to cut it so that they had different hair cuts so that it would be easier for their teacher at school.  Nicole said that she wanted hers to be the shortest. They look really cute.
Saturday Kyle had his first football game.  There was a big football Jamboree here in Yakima.  Each game was about an hour long, each team got 25 min. on offense and 25 min. on defense.  Kyles team ended up playing a team from Seattle.  It was fun to watch, but I may have a heart attack before the season is over, because of worrying about him getting hurt, some of these kids they play against are huge.  Our team started out on offense, Kyle played running back for a few plays, he had some good blocks, and got the ball once.  Then they switched to defense and he played defensive end for most of the game and had three or four good tackles.  He loved every minute of it.  I didn't get any good pictures during the game, but here he is after, doesn't he look tough?

Summer vacation week #8

This week I got to take Katie out school shopping and out for a treat.  It is fun spending time with each kid individually.  Some of our other fun this week included trips to the library, swimming in the neighbors pool, and homemade Popsicles.

Kyle is loving football practice, he looks pretty tough in his uniform.
On Saturday we took a trip to lake Chelan, we had so much fun there last year that we all wanted to return.  The weather was perfect, it was great day, everyone had lots of fun.  The bad things were they took out the docks that the kids had so much fun jumping off of last year, and it was a Saturday and it got really crowded, so next time we go it will have to be during the week.
Lydia and Nicole taking a break and getting a drink
Kyle and Hailey getting ready to jump in
Marc and Lydia-It took Lydia a while to decide that the water wasn't to bad
They all spent awhile digging in the sand Lydia laid right down on her tummy and really got into it
The drive home- I think they were a little tired

summer vacation week #7

Week # 7 was a good one.  Monday I was able to take Nicole out to do her school shopping and then of course we went out and got a treat, it was lots of fun, she says that she is really excited for school.
We spent some time playing in the little pool.  It is a little crowded for all the kids, but they still seem to have a good time. Lydia got right in there and had fun to.

Marc had Thursday off so we decided to spend the afternoon at vantage playing in the water and the sand, we had a great time.  The kids love diving in the water and finding the little shells and pretty rocks.  We took a picnic and played for a few hours.  Lydia didn't like the water at first but eventually warmed up to it, and liked it.

Friday we had to say goodbye to our favorite neighbors.  Rachel and Tyler and family moved to Olympia we were sad to see them go, it has been lots of fun having them next door, but we know that we will being seeing them much more often then we did when they were in New York.

Sunday my Aunt Tauni was having a family get together in Seattle.  We decided to go, it was a little bit of a drive, but we really had a good time.  The kids really had fun getting to know their extended family a little bit, and Marc and I had fun visiting with everyone, we will have to try to make it to more of those.
