January Update

It has been kind of a crazy month, there have been a lot of 2 hour delays and school closures due to the weather, I feel like we have to get used to our routine again.  The kids have loved the snow, we had some freezing rain as well which turned our yard into a big ice skating rink, you could walk on the six inches of snow and not sink in, because there was a thick layer of ice on top, the kids had fun sliding around.

basketball has started.  Lydia signed up this year, but there weren't enough teams so they cancelled it for 1st grade girls, but her coach already had gym time so he is still doing a practice once a week, it is actually perfect for her.  Katie and Nicole are on a team and have started games, they are really getting good and are fun to watch.

Kyle got his cast off a couple of weeks ago.  His finger seems to have healed up really well.  He couldn't go snow boarding with his cast on, so Marc took him this past weekend, they had a great time.  He is also doing good in his drivers training class, Marc lets him drive any time they go any where and says he is doing well.

Hailey finished up her pre-engineering class, her final project was making this little table.

Now she has an art class, I don't think she was too excited about it at first, but seems to be enjoying it, here is her first project.

Katie finished up her science-engineering class, they made mouse trap cars, she thought that was a pretty fun project.

January has been busy and fun, now onto February.

Another Storm

We had another big storm come through this past weekend. The kids are loving the snow and the 2 hour delays at school.

We got another 8 inches of snow yesterday.  The kids were happy to spend the last day of Christmas break outside in the snow.

Happy New Years

We celebrated the start of a new year last night.  We started with some yummy party food, and everyone got their own root beer.  We ate and talked about 2016 and all the fun we had, and about some of our plans for 2017. 

Then out came the karaoke.  Everyone really got into it this year, we had a lot of fun.

The girls made cupcakes so we could do a cake walk.

Unfortunately Hailey was getting sick with a cold and didn't feel all that well so she went to bed.  Kyle and a friend from church went to a party with some friends from school.  So the rest of us ate ice cream and watched the New Years countdown show on TV.  Lydia fell asleep at about 10,and we told Katie and Nicole Happy New Year at 11 and sent them to bed.  Marc and I waited up for Kyle, it sounds like he had a good time.  We cant wait to see what adventures 2017 brings.

elk and a hike

The day after Christmas some friends invited us to go to the elk feeding station and see the elk and then go for a hike.  We had never stopped at the elk feeding station before, it was pretty cool to see all those elk, they knew what time they were being fed, you could see this line of them working their way down the mountain so they could get there in time to eat. The hike was fun , there was still quite a bit of snow, it was beautiful and was nice to get out and get some exercise.

ChristmasDay 2016

I heard the kids up bright and early, but they had to wait to come down until 6:00.  We started with our stockings, they were full of all kinds of fun little things.

Next the kids exchanged gifts with each other, they were all very thoughtful and kind.

Then we stopped and ate a yummy breakfast.  Then we finished opening everything that Santa brought. It was lots of fun, I think everyone was happy and thankful.

We played around with our new things for a little bit, and then got ready and went to church.  Church was really nice, we all enjoyed having Christmas on a Sunday and being able to go to church.  We came home and finished cooking our Christmas dinner, it was very yummy, and it was nice to sit down together and eat on Christmas.
It was wonderful Christmas day and Christmas season, we enjoyed the extra time spent together, the time that we spent focusing on the Savior and service, and the traditions and memories that we made.
