back to school

The kids went back to school today.  This year is pretty much the same as last year, Kyle will leave first for seminary, it starts at 6:25, and then he will be at the high school, last year he was at the freshman campus.  he seemed happy enough about his classes, he was pretty tired when he got home.

Hailey, Katie, and Nicole catch the bus at 7:00.  The twins are in 6th grade at the middle school, and Hailey is in 8th grade at the junior high, the schools are next door to each other.  They got home at 3:00 and seemed happy about their day, they liked their classes and teachers.

Lydia doesn't leave until 8:15, she was pretty excited, so it was a long morning for her.  She had a great day, she told me at least 10 times that it was such a fun day.

The house felt quiet, I was excited for them to come home so I could hear all about it.  I spent the day cleaning and organizing.

Summer Vacation week 10

Summer is over.  This was the last week of summer, the kids head back to school on Tuesday.  This last week was super busy.  My Mom came for a visit, she got here Sunday night and stayed until Tuesday morning, it was a really nice visit.  She was here to watch the eclipse, we all enjoyed being a part of that.  We didn't have the special glasses, the kids did get to try the glasses at tennis, but we just poked holes in paper and watched it that way.

The 4 girls had tennis lessons this week, which they loved, but I felt like all I did was drive kids around.  They did really good, and improved a lot.

Kyle continued to have 2  football practices a day.  He also had a football jamboree on Saturday, we had fun watching him.

The kids all had open houses at their schools as well.  Kyle spent the morning at the High school, he seems excited about his schedule and being up at the high school. I got to go with Katie and Nicole to their school and walk around and meet their teachers, they have one class together, but they have the same teachers just at different times.  Hailey went one night and got her schedule she got the classes she was hoping for.  We went Friday and found out who Lydia  has, she has the 2nd grade teacher that the twins had, and she was really good. 

The girls had fun painting their summer mural, they do this every year and love it.

Hailey had a party here Friday night, they played games outside and everyone brought their favorite ice cream topping , and they ate ice cream.  I think everyone had fun.

Saturday night Marc and I got to chaperone the youth dance,  Kyle loved having us there especially when when we showed off our dance moves. 

We had fun tonight looking at all of the pictures from the summer, it was sure a good one, full of fun and adventure and lots of good family time.

Summer Vacation week 9

We got home Monday evening, it was a long day of driving but everyone did great.  We were excited to see the new kitchen, it looked really good.  We still had to put in the appliances, it ended up taking all week to get them in, it was harder than we thought, but they are in now and looks great. I still need to paint and put up the baseboards but that will probably wait until school starts.  The girls had fun playing in the boxes and making forts.  Kyle started football this week, he has 2 practices a day, so I felt like I did a lot of driving and waiting. 

family vacation day 10

We slept in this morning, and then drove over to the Timpanogos temple, walked around a little and then went to church in the building next to it.  After church we all came back and took a nap, I think at this point we are all a little tired.  we made a quick visit to our favorite park from last summer and let the kids play for awhile, then we met up with Marcs good friend from high school, Jason Herrud, we had fun hearing all the funny stories from their high school days.  Then we went over to Marcs brothers house and had a nice Sunday dinner with them. We had lots of fun visiting and playing with their cute kids.  Marcs sister Kim and Brother sean were there as well so it was a really fun visit.

family vacation day 9

We got up this morning and left Saint George. We made a quick stop at the temple before we left, it is beautiful, we loved seeing it.  Some friends had told us about a really great hike called Kanereville falls, you walk through a river to get to a slot canyon, it was a little crowded, but it was worth it.  We stopped in Beaver and ate lunch at a park and got ice cream at the cheese factory, which was fun until Lydias ice cream fell on the ground and she had a little melt down. We continued on to Provo and stopped at the BYU bookstore.  Then on to our hotel which was right next to the outlet mall, so we stopped and got everyone shoes for school. 

family vacation day 8

This morning we got up and drove to Zion National Park.  It is beautiful scenery, we loved it.  We did 3 fairly short hikes.  It was very hot, but we enjoyed exploring a little. We liked the cactuses, we saw lots of squirrels, and lizzards. We came back and went out and ate and then swam in the pool at the hotel. 

Family Vacation Day 7

We left Anaheim first thing this morning.  We were so close to the coast that we made a quick trip to Huntington Beach and I think we all kind of fell in love with it.  It was beautiful and the weather was great, they all would have loved to try surfing and play in the water but we needed to get to Saint George, so we didn't stay very long.  The rest of the day was lots of driving, it wasn't much fun but we made it.

Family Vacation Day 6

Our last day at Disneyland, and it was a good one.  Again we got there before it opened, we did all of our favorite rides, some of them twice, and didnt wait at all.  We also went and got our pictures taken with Mickey, and we ran into Pluto, he had fun with the girls and there doggy ears.  We only stayed until about 1:00. We walked home and then decided to go out to eat, it was nice to sit down and eat a real meal and relax for a bit.  The kids watched a movie while us old people took a little nap, then some of us went back for a couple of more hours of fun.  Unfortunately Kyle is suffering from motion sickness and isnt feeling great, so he and Lydia and Grandma stayed home.  It has been a great Disneyland trip, We havent waited for rides at all, the weather has been great, we have all had tons of fun, and made lots of great memories.
